Melis is a highly motivated environmental engineer skilled in sustainability, circular economy, waste management, industrial symbiosis and life cycle assessment. She has a master degree of Sustainability from the University of Sydney and B.S. Environmental Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. Melis’ current role in BCSD Turkey focuses on resource recovery and involves working with small to medium sized and large multinational businesses to help define opportunities within their operation to reduce their waste footprint and their transition to circular economy. As being part of the Turkey’s Circular Economy Platform, she works collaboratively with the businesses to create reduction-recovery strategies by closing the loop in material flows to create positive environmental outcomes. She thoroughly enjoys inspiring change within organizations and enabling businesses to embrace the fact that minor changes will play an important role in large environmental and economic outcomes. As a Circo trainer, Melis aims to help companies in adaptation of circular economy concept in their operations to effectively tackle the most pressing issues by creating new opportunities. Melis participated in Circular Business Design Track as part of Circo’s train the trainers session and became a Circo trainer in 2019.
