A Documentary on Reducing Food Waste has been Released for World Food Day!

We have been working with Fazla, one of the first members of the Turkish Circular Economy Platform, since 2019. Fazla; It is a social enterprise founded in 2016 under the name of surplus food, with the mission of working impact-oriented on behalf of the world while developing a sustainable business model and setting an example for young people in this sense. Technology-based, holistic waste management solutions are developed in line with the Food Gain Hierarchy recommendations in this adventure, which puts the problem of global food loss and waste at the heart of the work.

As the last step of national representation and the first step of the globalization goal, Fazla brought the expertise it developed over 7 years to Spain last March and has recently become a part of the B Corp network. Stating that they are a team that aims to solve problems, not treat symptoms, with their holistic and proactive approach, "We work like the waste management and sustainability department of the institutions we cooperate with and design our processes following their business styles and cultures," says Koray Koçer, leader of Fazla Marketing and Business Development. "With our data-oriented approach, we make all processes end-to-end traceable and the impact visible," he adds.

This year, on World Food Day, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) produced a documentary on "food waste" to increase awareness. With the help of the Business World and Sustainable Development Association (SKD Turkey (BCSD Turkey)), EBRD and Fazla eventually came into contact.

Fazla operates on the principle of "turning excess into benefit" by utilizing the Fazla Mobile Application to connect surplus products produced by businesses and markets during the day with end users through the surprise box idea. Customers may participate in the food rescue movement and shop at 50% off with Surplus, making a #toogood step for the environment.
